Schools and Youth

SCOCO loves getting youth involved in climate solutions! Besides providing education on sustainability to students, we can work on waste reduction projects, help environmental clubs, Scout troops and more! Contact SCOCO for follow up on any of the below items.

Some examples of how SCOCO can serve schools and youth:

  • Do you want your Middle or HS group or your classroom to learn more about sustainability and climate solutions and be able to measure their progress? Contact SCOCO to set up a fun, free & interactive presentation on our Cleaner Contra Costa Challenge.
  • Are you a high school student looking to do more? Join our youth group called Sustainable Leaders in Action: SLIA!
  • Students can earn community service hours by volunteering with us at tabling events, workshops, etc.
  • SCOCO has curriculums for environmental clubs to help organize and structure meetings with sustainable education and projects. Contact SCOCO  for more information.
  • Do you want your Scout Troop to earn an environmental badge? We have a fun BINGO card they can do to earn sustainable points and prizes.
  • Under contract with the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (Central San), SCOCO’s instructors visit more than fifty K-12 schools each year to provide interactive hands-on lessons to students about the water cycle; focusing especially on where water goes when it goes down the drain, and the steps used to clean up the dirty water so that it’s safe to return to the environment.
