Welcome to the East Bay Clean Air Coalition!

The East Bay Clean Air Coalition brings together community based organizations and agencies to collectively work towards improving air quality in Antioch, Pittsburg and Bay Point by coordinating resources and ensuring the interests of local residents are represented. 

This project is funded through a James Cary Smith Grant from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.

Our Vision: The East Bay Clean Air Coalition engages and uplifts the voices of residents in Antioch, Pittsburg, and Bay Point—especially those from disproportionately affected communities—to improve air quality and public health for community well-being and a more sustainable environment.

Our Objectives: 

1. Build meaningful community connections among residents, local government, and other stakeholders in East County.
2. Identify and prioritize policies, programs and resources that community members and government agencies can utilize to improve local air quality
3. Raise awareness and provide training and other resources for residents and community groups that enable them to develop strategies to advocate for and promote solutions among residents, local government, and stakeholders.

Snapshot:

Now in Year 2 of a three-year program, our work will focus on supporting community members in taking action. To do this, we will:

• Establish clear objectives and goals to neatly sum up what we are and what we are working towards
• Manage a networks where various community groups can share resources and limit duplicative work
• Create and distribute messaging campaigns to educate and engage local residents about how they can make a difference in their households and community
• Consider additional ways to attract community members:
  • Offer ways for them to get involved in air quality research
  • Organize and/or participate in community meetings to raise awareness 
  • Attend an event calling for action
